Lawrence Barretto is a motor racing journalist currently working as a Staff Writer at the UK’s best sports magazine – Sport.
He started writing in 2003, completing his first work placement at Autocar magazine. While studying for a Multi-Media Journalism degree at Bournemouth University, he gained vital experience at the Guardian Unlimited, Press Association, Daily Express and Eastbourne Herald amongst others.
He became the first student journalist to be accredited for the FIA British Grand Prix in 2006, and has since been a F1 paddock regular attending races in Belgium, Great Britain, Malaysia and Spain (Barcelona and Valencia).
Within the last year, he has interviewed Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Valentino Rossi, Fernando Alonso, Robert Kubica, Heikki Kovalainen, Andy Priaulx and Fabrizio Giovanardi amongst others.
As well as other motorsports including British Touring Cars, World Touring Cars, MotoGP, A1GP and World Rally, Lawrence has experience covering tennis, athletics, cycling, rugby union, squash, winter sports and even UFC.
